What is COVID-19?

In December 2019 the number of cases of pneumonia increased suddenly in Wuhan city (China). After research, it was found that disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The disease named by scientist COVID -19 and virus named SARS CoV-2.Then, COVID -19 spread in china and the rest of the world.

Normally -80% of patients recovered without special treatment. Although the COVID-19 mortality rate is not so high as compared to other viruses (Ebola, HIV, SARS, etc.). But older people, cardiovascular patients, chronic respiratory patients, obesity, and diabetes patients are at high risk.

MAIN SYMPTOMS

  • fever
  • dry cough
  • shortness of breathing

DIAGNOSIS

  • RT-PCR TEST ( reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction mainly based on gene fingerprint)
  • BLOOD TEST (based on antigen-antibody interaction)

TREATMENT

  • Till date no vaccine discovered.

In January 2020, WHO announced the public health emergency of INTERNATIONAL concern.

In India , first case of coronavirus reported in Kerala in a student who returned from Wuhan university in china.
