Mr. BM Birla, a businessman, founded the BITS in 1955. BIT Mesra was formed with the goal of providing a safe haven for young minds to let their imaginations soar and their ideas come to life. Established in 1972, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology is a scientific community with highly qualified and competent faculty, postgraduate students, research fellows, and visiting scientists. The Department is well-equipped for teaching and research with cutting-edge infrastructure.

Programmes offered at a glance:-

Undergraduate Programmes:– The Department conducts a four-year undergraduate Programme (B. Pharm.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The courses are recognized by the UGC, Pharmacy Council of India and AICTE.

Postgraduate Programmes:-The Department’s two-year postgraduate Programme (M. Pharm.) with a specialization in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance.

Doctoral Programmes:- The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology offers doctoral Programmes in all disciplines. The Department has a modern and sophisticated laboratory and workshop facilities for this purpose.

Eligibility Criteria:-

Candidates must have taken the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) or the National Eligibility Cumulation Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Candidates must have completed Class 12 / I.Sc or a qualifying examination of equal value. Candidates must have received a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwD) in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology in Class 12 / I.Sc or Equivalent Qualifying Examination. The average of the following four topics will be used to calculate marks in Class 12: English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology.

Selection Procedures: Selections will be made on merit, that will be drawn by giving –
o   60% weightage to JEE (Main) / National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) Score [total marks obtained] and
o   40% weightage to academic performance (marks in Class 12 / equivalent qualifying examination)
o   Candidates must meet the age criteria and other minimum academic requirements.
